ALC Designation FAQs

How does one become an Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) candidate?

A person is considered to be on the candidate track to the Accredited Land Consultant designation once they become a member of the REALTORS® Land Institute.

Are there any accelerated programs to achieve the ALC if I already have an advanced real estate designation?

Yes.  Designees of the CCIM Institute, Society of Industrial and Office REALTORS®, Counselors of Real Estate, and the American Society of Farm Managers and and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) must only complete 3 of the 6 required courses because of the level of their previous education.  Two of the 3 courses must be Land 101 and Land Investment Analysis; the third can be any other RLI Land University course.  However, all ALC candidates must show proof of three years of experience, as well as transaction volume according to the ALC Requirements. Find more details on the Fast Track page.

Do ALCs receive a wider range of member benefits than candidates and other members?

Absolutely!  ALC designees receive the full range of member benefits, plus additional premium benefits, such as highlighted results in the online directory, additional discounts, and participation in ALC-only events.

Do all members of RLI become Accredited Land Consultants (ALCs)?
No.  Only the land professionals who have completed the rigorous ALC Land University curriculum and fulfilled transaction experience requirements may apply for the Accredited Land Consultant designation.  See the ALC requirements.

What are the annual membership dues?
A 12-month membership is $295. There is also a one-time application fee of $75.

How do I apply for the ALC designation?

Candidates for the Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) designation complete an ALC application and submit a $350 designation filing fee when submitting that application.  The application is reviewed and approved by an Accreditation Review Panel.
