Our industry remains strong for land professionals and the consumer thanks to the commitment of land REALTORS® across the country. Dozens of members of the REALTORS® Land Institute, including RLI's Executive Team, traveled to Boston, MA to represent the interests of land REALTORS and property owners at NAR's NXT convention November 8-10, 2024.
Key Issues in the Land Industry
RLI leaders and members met at an RLI Member meeting to address key issues impacting land and landownership. Priority issues include the impact of U.S. election results on land and real estate related policies and two significant successful court rulings in favor of landowners and private property rights, including one win at the Supreme Court on a land use exactions case.
REALTORS® Land Institute Updates
The meeting was also an opportunity to celebrate the growth of the organization with members.
- RLI has experienced a 44% growth in membership over the past five years
- There are 740 ALCs and 1,215 non-designated members (as of 11/7)
- 257 new members joined in 2024 (as of 11/7)
RLI now has 20 Chapters throughout the U.S. This year, the RLI Board of Directors approved the formation of the RLI Kentucky-Indiana Chapter and the RLI Mid-Atlantic Chapter. Chapter development and support continues to be a key strategy to provide local opportunities for networking and education and grow the organization.
RLI’s leadership team had the opportunity to connect with the team at Moody’s CRE. Moody’s is rapidly building a presence in land. A new partnership with Moody’s, a trusted leader in commercial real estate, brings powerful data and analytics to RLI members through complimentary access to Moody’s Market Pro platform. RLI members will receive preferred pricing on subscriptions in 2025.
Educating REALTORS® on Transitional Land
REALTORS® from across the country learned how to spot emerging land use trends, capitalize on zoning opportunities, and navigate the complexities of entitlements during a presentation by Christina Asbury, ALC on Transitional Land. Thank you, Christina, for continuing to bring more awareness to land as a commercial real estate specialty.
